Hi Ho...Back to Emergency We Go

Like old hats we presented to emergency yet again with a baby who had vomited her tube out, yet again. Everybody seemed to know us. The emergency nurse...oh hi...weren't you here two weeks ago? Bed 4? The theatre nurse when we arrived on the wrong level for the tube insertion because our doctor had no bloody idea where she was going...oh hi Frankie...nice to see you again. The radiologist's assistant when we finally found the right place...oh hi...i remember it took 2 full days to get your tube in back in August!

It was the same shit...wait around for way too many hours until x-ray could finally get to us. Hold a screaming baby down on the table and have the tube put back in. The only difference this time was that we used midazolam to sedate her so, at least in the lead up to the insertion, she was in a good mood. She waved like a drunk to every medical practitioner she could see.

While we'd waited down at emergency short stay for x-ray we'd headed up to outpatients for what was meant to be a Telehealth appointment with the OT and physio so they could assess Frankie for our NDIS application. Because we were there though, they saw us in person and, for the first time ever, Frankie engaged with them without crying. She crawled around, pulled herself up on things, played with all of their toys and impressed them all with how her motor skills were progressing. Great job Frankie!
